Proposal P1

Format:

I am going to create a Hip Hop/ Rap music magazine, more specifically I will be creating the front cover and a double page spread as specified on the client brief. The purpose of my magazine is to bring upcoming local musicians to the audience’s attention.
Working Title:

My working title is “Top Bars” although this might change, I have chosen this name because my magazine focuses on Hip Hop and rap artists music, the word “Bars” is a rap term for lyrics, this would appeal to fans of this genre of music as they would recognise this term. It also has a local slang to it that adds to the sense of community.
Genre:

The genre of my magazine is music however the sub-genre focus is on Rap and Hip Hop artists.
Content:

The content of my magazine would feature exclusive interviews with both popular and upcoming artists, as well as lyric breakdowns and reviews of songs and albums. This magazine will be something that fans can read for the latest news in this genre of music, I also want this to become a reliable source to find new music and have trusted opinions within the reviews. The focus would also reach my target audience because of the Star appeal, this theory suggests that the readers will be drawn into this magazine as their favourite artists will appear in it. Most artists that are featured in my magazine will be local, this achieves the community feel of the magazine that I aim to achieve as these upcoming artists could even be someone you walk past on the street.
Style or approach:
For my magazine I will be using Publisher for the double page spread and Photoshop for the front cover as both of these software’s provide me with the tools I need to create my products. My article will be in Arial Bold as it is clear and easy to read and needs no artistic font. For my front cover I will be creating a document featuring fonts that I would like to use comparing them for effectiveness. I would like

Audience:

My target audience is aged at people from 16-30 because that is the main age demographic for this genre of music, however I need to take into consideration that people older than this may buy this magazine because of their interest in the genre. My Target audience has no gender specifications however the majority of artists in this genre tend to be male but my magazine will ensure that female artists get just as much attention. The target audience is focused on Liverpool, as my brief states I need to achieve a sense of community in my product, this magazine will be exclusive for Liverpool shops.
Length:

I will be creating three pages consisting of a front cover and a double page spread in an A4 format.
Frequency:

This magazine will be monthly and be online for free to reach my younger demographic as well as having a larger reach than a local shop. However it will also be sold in local news agents as this will make them unique to the Liverpool community.
